Bike and Read

If I hadn’t seen this, I wouldn’t have believed it.  Presumably it’s meant to be used with a stationary bicycle.

Performance Book Caddy

At the bargain price of $14.99, no wonder it’s out of stock!

  1. We actually have one of these. And yes, we use it only when the bike is set up in the trainer. 🙂 Pretty basic, but turning pages takes two hands.

    • I just hold my book in my hands while working out. I’ve found that using a rack makes it harder to read while I’m bouncing back and forth.

  2. Is this the alternative to texting while driving?

    • There is no alternative to texting while driving! At least not in my area. I’ve seen people do it while driving 70 on the freeway. Hard to say whether that’s more or less distracting than spreading a newspaper across the steering wheel.

  3. Wow, can I just say I WANT ONE! But I am sitting here wondering if I could nagivate the bike path to work while reading… being as it is more of a trail and there isn’t usually much traffic… hmm…. 😉

    • I’ve done it! Just not with a rack.

  4. I wonder how it would do on a treadmill? I have tried reading while walking and it is really hard. I really do not like audio. What do you think?

    • I walk and read on the treadmill all the time. I hold the book in my hands, though, so it means I can’t read anything too thick. I find propping a book on anything as low as the handlebars makes it too far away to read in motion. For some people, magazines might work better. My friend plays video games on his recumbent exercise bike – although it doesn’t seem to be helping him keep his weight down… 🙂

  5. It does look more like a portable music stand, but either way it’s convenience on the go!

  6. there’s no way i can read and work out at the same time, i get motion sickness from it!

    • Yeah, I hear a lot of people get motion sickness from reading in a car, too. I don’t know what I’d do!
